Lori decided to book me for a special occasion — not for herself, though! The occasion? Her parents’ Golden Wedding Anniversary.
She wanted to incorporate an old b&w photo of her parents from their wedding day 50 years ago. I’m always leery about printing faces directly onto invitation panels (ever see those mailing labels with teeny-tiny thumbnails of the betrothed??), but after looking at the photo, I couldn’t resist. They were so cute! I know you’ll think so too.
I decided to layer the photo on top, but keep it translucent so that you can see the impression of “Golden Anniversary” underneath. I also tinted the image so that it would translate more vintage-ee.
Of course, I always have to stop and enjoy a thick stack of paper. These were envelopes.

This was a great reminder that detailed invitations can be used to express more than a couple’s new marriage. Here, they were used to honor Lori’s past.
Can you think of other ways to honor your family’s history?

Ai Ling - Very elegant! The translucent photo idea is awesome.
I love the photo of the thick stack of paper as well.
My Choi, PaperThinker - Thanks! I always pay homage to thick stacks of paper!
