{My&Me: A Collaboration}. The Studio

It’s time to document our progress!  PaperThick Ink has joined forces with the award-winning photographer Brooke Ringdahl of ta’rooke photography to form My&Me: A Collaboration.

Located on Harriet Island in St. Paul, Minnesota in the old ACVR/Farwell Warehouse, we are a multidisciplinary design studio ready to receive you in our newly appointed consult space!   Stop in to check out our new digs!  Later this year, we’ll be hosting a series of openings.   YOU’RE INVITED!

In case you don’t already know the mastermind of this venture, meet Brooke and her photos that tell the story of our move-in day…. complete with crazy awesome tag lines….

MOVING ON UP

{All photos courtesy of Brooke Ringdahl: ta’rooke photography}

{AHHHH Self Priming!  Thank you Dutch Boy.}

Meet Dave (Brooke’s husband) and Lily; without whom this space would probably still be a work-in-progress.

{“Dad could we get some frogs to put in this bucket when you are done painting?”}

{iPad friendly.}

{“This is how you smile for Mommy, Dad.”}

{Outside? Look in!}

Mixed seating: Brooke’s awesome finds which includes a vintage yellow slipper chair from Retro Wanderlust, some antique venetian side tables and a RED leather Chesterfield sofa.  This masculine sofa facing off with the tulip-shaped yellow slipper chair is otherworldly.  That’s right.  I said it:  it’s DIVINE.  And I want to go to there.

{Otherworldy}

{Work Bench = Work in Progress}

{Have you met Beyonce?  How about feasting your eyes on this awesome vintage ruler until you do.}

{Oh the rainbow of joy with props galore.}

{Because [Brooke has] this obsession with naming things… meet Miss Tweet soon to be Mrs. if she says yes to a Mr.}

Now open to visitors.  Please stop in! -My & Brooke

Minnesota Bride!

It’s still out on newsstands so I figure we’re still allowed to post this!

Sewn Together

{This one’s for CLS ::  Here’s to getting your running legs back soon so that you can keep up with the kiddie underfoot.}

We adored this little purple creation when we first made it.  Now that this little girl is almost 2, I’m finally posting the set in honor of her mother.

The Challenge: Create an announcement that incorporated not just 1, but 3 different photos which had to be removable so that family could place them in frames.  Of course it MUST be cute.

The Winner:  A multi-layered announcement held together by lavender thread in a zig-zag stitch.  The sewn layers look like an album binding which suited this little girl to perfection.   The bound pages were inserted into a lavender pocket and wrapped with a hand-painted ziggy striped paper.

{Sewn together}

{Multiple layers and multiple pictures}

A design concept that was threaded throughout the whole project.    Hahah!  I put the fun in pun.

Reagan’s Pirate B-day Party

In June 2010 when I was prepping Jill and Matt’s wedding suite for posting, I had the company of a very sweet 8 year-old girl named Reagan.  I asked Reagan what she thought of the Island Map that My had created and she said she loved it.  On the spot, she made a pact with me:  when her birthday comes in March we would create a pirate map invite for her Paaarrrrrghty.

Fast forward to the end of February 2011, I get a call from a very serious Miss Reagan reminding me that her birthday was a month away and that I had promised her a pirate map invite.  Good memory.  Smart girl.

Here matey’s is the map to ye’ golden treasure!  *Ahem*  Sorry I get carried away them:

{Shapely:  New and Ornate}

Check them out!  We incorporated purple and pink skulls since this was for a little girl, after all.  The card’s format features a die-cut shape… a new item that PTI now offers!

Reagan's Pirate Map Birthday Invite{A sweeter skull and cross-bones = pirate-y goodness.}

Reagan's Pirate Map Birthday Invite{Metallic stock  gives the parchment texture a golden luster- perfect  for a treasure-hunting pirate!}

I would’ve killed for these birthday invites…not really kill, but at least knock over a lemonade stand for them.   Ask me how we can incorporate your favorite ideas into a custom birthday or announcement!

PaperThick Ink’s I.D.entity

Check out PaperThick Ink’s new (well, newer) business cards!    These are a mini-square: 2×2.   An ultra thick card that with its contrast of silk coating + spot gloss highlight, manages to feel both luxurious and sleek at the same time!  These cards really hit the spot (har!) in both finish and size for us.

See our storyboard below.  Shiny on the top and silky along the bottom edge.  There are bands of gloss to highlight the color blocks and isolated gloss directly on our names and lettering:

There is something so satisfying about seeing your name in print.  Let us know if you like them!

Here’s an inside look at how we came up with our final design.  This is a process that we use for every.single.client.    There are always revisions,  edits, differences of opinion, modifications and then finally: Our IDentity.
